iWork 101: Introduction to iWork

This two-day, hands-on course introduces students to the key features and basic interface of iWork. iWork is Apple's suite of productivity tools that includes Pages for producing professional looking documents, Numbers for creating spreadsheets, tables and charts, and Keynote for developing high-quality presentations. iWork runs from 9:30am - 4:30pm

In this course, you will learn how to to create everything from first-rate business presentations and newsletters to effective budgets and event planners. Learn how to effortlessly create stunning presentations, complete with Apple-designed themes, cinema-quality animations, and voiceover narration. Create compelling spreadsheets for everything from family budgets and event planning to invoices and complex financial reports. All three applications offer import and export compatibility with Microsoft Office applications.

Who should attend

This class is designed for educators, students, professionals, and others who prefer hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore the functionality of the iWork applications. This course prepares students to pass the Apple Certified Associate, iWork exam.

Prerequisites

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course:

  • Basic knowledge of the Macintosh OS

Associate training & certification for high schools:

Apple offers an amazing opportunity to educators to offer certification to your K-12 students through their Associate Training and Certification Program for High Schools!

Byjoining the Apple Associate Certification program for Education, your school can offer Associate Certification to your students. To apply, your school must have at least one teacher with iWork Trainer certification by passing the associated trainer exam. This course includes an end user exam which earns Apple Certified Associate iWork certification. You must apply to take the trainer exam separately.

As a member of the program, your school will be able to purchase exam codes in bulk for $45. Students who pass the certification exams will receive a PDF certificate and can download certification logos to use on their resumes and webpages.

About the Instructor

About Jonathan

A broadcast veteran with over a decades experience in the local post-production industry Jonathan Lê has edited on virtually every system imaginable. First certified in Final Cut Pro in 2006 he spends as much time in the application as possible and is always surprised by its flexibility. Prior to his working career he completed a degree in Film Studies at the University of Manitoba as well as certificates in editing from New York University.

Jonathan travelled extensively before finally settling in Winnipeg where he currently resides with his lovely wife. He presently heads the video department of a local marketing company where he enjoys working daily on projects ranging from documentary to commercial.
