Introduction to Adobe InDesign CS5 is ideal for users who want to learn key InDesign concepts and techniques in a hands on lab and focused setting. More experienced users who already have some experience with InDesign can use this course to learn some of InDesign CS5's more advanced features and newest tools.

This course covers the new tools for interactive documents, simplified object selection, multiple page sizes, track text changes, new layers panel, production enhancements, and print to digital capability.
Using step-by-step, project-based lessons, this course walks users through the creation of a specific project, with successive lessons building on the user's growing knowledge of the program.

Prerequisites
You should have a working knowledge of the Macintosh and its operating system. Make sure that you know how to use the mouse and standard menus and commands, and also how to open, save, and close files. If you need to review these techniques, see the documentation included with your Mac® OS X computer.

If you wish to become certified in Adobe InDesign CS5, details will be provided in class. Certification for Adobe products is provided by Person Vue.
About the instructor
Andrew Klapatiuk
Andrew Klapatiuk is a Certified Technical Trainer, and holds Adobe Certified Expert and Adobe Certified Instructor designations in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom 2.
His training focuses on aiding clients make the transition to Illustrator and InDesign and developing efficient production workflows. Andrew has been a guest speaker at the Manitoba Magazine Publishers Association Conference conducting InDesign workshops for designers and art directors.
He has provided Illustrator training for the Visual Arts Department faculty at the University of Western Ontario. For seven years he served as a professor at Niagara College’s School of Media and Design, teaching photojournalism and digital photography along with newspaper layout and production.
As well, Andrew has worked in many aspects of printing, from commercial offset to wide-format digital printing.
