HTML/CSS How to Train your Web Site
On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 7 pm - 9 pm, New Media Manitoba presents: How to Train your Web Site - a guide to HTML 5 and CSS 3 on the web. Over the span of 2-hours, Chris Lobay and Elbert Bakker of Handcraft Creative will share with you best practices for working with HTML 5 and CSS 3 and why they are the most important tools in any web developers arsenal.
HTML is a markup language at the very underpinning of web development and CSS is what goes over top of it to make everything look pretty (this is a bit of an understatement I know). Every time you browse a website, you rely on a developer's expertise to employ HTML & CSS in a way that not only looks good, but works.
HTML 5 is also being heralded as the saviour of video on the web because it doesn't require a plugin like Flash to work. This could positively affect millions of users that rely on desktop computers and mobile devices to be informed and entertained. CSS (short for Cascading Style Sheets) is what developers rely on to make sweeping graphical changes to a website in just a matter of moments.
For the past several months I've been watching Handcraft Creative bend and mold HTML & CSS in ways that would make a Cirque du Soleil cast blush. They've been working vigorously on the next incarnation of the New Media Manitoba website and it will be GLORIOUS. Next Tuesday at 7 pm, Chris and Elbert will share with you some of their best practices and information on:
