New bid to grow digital media: Three-year project gets federal cash Murray McNeill, Winnipeg Free Press, March 15, 2011
Collaboration for Development
We are thrilled to share our long-anticipated news about a collaboration with Western Economic Diversification, Entrepreneurship Training & Trade, and Innovation Energy and Mines, that will see $433,000 go toward a much needed Interactive Digital Media Strategy in Manitoba.
This 3-year project will also include promotional activities like company profiles, trade missions, and industry development events that will help new media companies flex their competitive strengths.
The Interactive Digital Media (or New Media) Strategy will encompass three phases:
- A comprehensive accounting of all the new media companies and individuals working in the sector and their respective strengths and skills gaps
- An analysis that will build a clearly articulated Interactive Digital Media Strategy including Education, Government, Business and Industry Partners
- Implementation of the Interactive Digital Media Strategy
Murray McNeil does a great job summarizing yesterday's announcement in his Winnipeg Free Press article which I encourage you to check out.
We'll Need Your Help
Please know that you will be called upon to help contribute to the data in this New Media Study and subsequent strategy that we are about to undertake. It does not matter whether you are student, part-time, full-time, or some-time new media person. This will be a comprehensive undertaking and we need you on board. We've never had the resources like we do now to create our own new media destiny and we are counting on your participation.
Thanks to everyone that showed up in person and to all the wonderful people that have emailed and shared Tweets with their social networks.
It's a wonderful time to be working in the New Media sector in Manitoba!
