New Media Manitoba (NMM) is currently seeking applicants to manage the technology and IT for our growing number of workforce development projects.  The role of the Studio Lab and IT Manager (Lab Manager) is to provide training and technical support for staff and students at NMM. The Lab Manager will be well-versed in all types of media and be able to stay current with rapidly developing new trends, practices and technologies. The Lab Manager will be an effective communicator and able to collaborate with a team of specialists and instructors to ensure successful outcomes for educational projects.  Help New Media Manitoba (NMM) build new worlds and train the workforce of tomorrow!  


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and resolve IT issues
  • Provide classroom technology support
  • Provide instructional support as required
  • Work with and support staff and students in training workshops and client-based work
  • Collaborate with instructor(s) to identify technical issues students are facing and recommend solutions
  • Develop training and procedure manuals for software, hardware and other lab equipment
  • Safety lead, developing safe work procedures and ensuring a safe lab and classroom environment for students, staff and visitors
  • Support procurement of equipment, hardware and software, and maintaining equipment listings
  • Install, configure, and deploy new hardware and software
  • Perform system updates and configuration
  • Clearly communicate technical solutions in a clear concise manner
  • Keep current and update inventory lists
  • Support audiovisual setups
  • Maintain lab equipment
  • Perform other various duties as assigned by the team

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies
  • Strong computer hardware and software skills
  • Knowledge of general internet and network connectivity
  • Understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and engaging work environment
  • Endless curiosity
  • Works well under pressure
  • Good verbal communications skills with the ability to articulate to all levels
  • Exceptional organizational abilities
  • Ability to quickly assimilate large amounts of information
