SUMMARY:WGC Postmortem
DESCRIPTION:New Media Manitoba is proud to partner with the Winnipeg Game Collective for another Postmortem! \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEver wonder what goes into making a video game? \n\n\n\nEvery video game you’ve ever played started as an idea\, and getting from that idea to something people can actually play takes more creativity\, problem-solving\, and hard choices than most people ever see. \n\n\n\nThe Winnipeg Game Collective Postmortem is an evening dedicated to pulling back the curtain on what it really takes to make a video game. Local developers will take the stage to share honest reflections on their projects: what inspired them\, what clicked\, what fell apart\, and what they’d do differently. Each presentation is followed by open Q&A. \n\n\n\nWhether you make games yourself or have always been curious about how they come together\, this is a free\, rare look at the process from the people living it. \n\n\n\nWho should come: \n\n\n\n\nVideo game developers — whether you’ve released a dozen projects or are still building your first\n\n\n\nWinnipeg Game Jam 2026 participants — come celebrate what you made and hear how others experienced the jam\n\n\n\nAnyone curious about making video games — this is a rare\, honest look at the process from the people living it\n\n\n\nArtists\, writers\, musicians\, and designers who work or want to work in video games\n\n\n\nAnyone who loves video games and wants to connect with the people making them right here in Winnipeg\n\n\n\n\nThe Winnipeg Game Collective is a nonprofit community of game developers in Winnipeg\, Manitoba. SUMMARY:MBWiTech | Rethinking Cybersecurity: Breaking the Myths Holding Women Back
DESCRIPTION:Register Today\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a complimentary hot breakfast and learn more about how cybersecurity isn’t what you think it may be! \n\n\n\nISACA Winnipeg and Manitoba Women in Tech are passionate about helping women take their place in the tech world. Cybersecurity is an area overflowing with opportunities\, but perceptions about careers in cybersecurity might be holding many women back from entering the field.  \n\n\n\nThis presentation is all about challenging common assumptions about what cybersecurity is (and who it’s for). Mary will explain how some of these perceptions and beliefs are just myths that can be broken to help women take a confident career step into the cyber world. \n\n\n\nIf you have ever thought that: \n\n\n\n\nCybersecurity is about hackers in hoodies\n\n\n\nThere’s only one “right” way to enter a cybersecurity career\n\n\n\nCybersecurity leadership is defined by technical mastery alone\n\n\n\nCybersecurity work is isolated and done in silos\n\n\n\nSecurity is something you add on after technology is deployed\n\n\n\nCybersecurity is about fear\, control\, and saying “no”\n\n\n\nYou need permission or perfect confidence to belong in cyber\n\n\n\n\nIf so\, you need to join us for this myth-busting presentation as part of Manitoba’s Tech Week! Mary’s presentation will be complemented by a panel featuring diverse cybersecurity roles that showcase the field as a multidisciplinary\, collaborative ecosystem. \n\n\n\nAgenda: \n\n\n\n\n8:00 – 8:30 am: breakfast & networking\n\n\n\n8:30 – 9:30 am: keynote & discussion\n\n\n\n9:30 – 10:00 am: networking\n\n\n\n10:00 am: event conclusion\n\n\n\n\nThank you to ISACA Winnipeg for sponsoring this event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker bio: \n\n\n\nMary Carmichael is a recognized leader in cybersecurity\, technology risk\, and digital governance\, known for bridging strategy and execution to help organizations adopt innovation with confidence. SUMMARY:MBWiTech | virtual lunch & learn workshop about Leading From the Inside Out
DESCRIPTION:Register Today\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNew goals require more than new strategies\, they require deeper awareness and understanding. \n\n\n\nWomen in tech often navigate complex internal and external pressures: imposter syndrome\, visibility challenges\, perfectionism\, and unspoken expectations around leadership\, confidence\, and communication. \n\n\n\nThis workshop focuses on understanding the internal patterns that shape how women show up at work. How we lead\, communicate\, make decisions\, and set boundaries\, particularly in environments where credibility\, visibility\, and confidence are constantly tested. \n\n\n\nRather than starting with external behaviours\, participants will explore what’s happening beneath the surface: the assumptions\, motivations\, and habits that influence everything from delegation and collaboration to confidence and credibility. \n\n\n\nThrough practical psychological frameworks\, participants will gain insight into why leadership challenges show up differently for each person and how self-awareness becomes a powerful tool for sustainable growth\, clarity\, and confidence in tech careers. \n\n\n\nParticipants will: \n\n\n\n\nExplore the internal drivers behind behaviour\, confidence\, and communication in tech environments\n\n\n\nLearn practical models that support meaningful self-awareness and professional growth\n\n\n\nExamine leadership challenges such as: delegation\, decision-making\, and assertive communication\, through the lens of challenges women commonly experience in tech roles\n\n\n\nIdentify internal patterns that support or interfere with visibility\, influence\, and career progression\n\n\n\nSet intentions for the year grounded in self-awareness rather than pressure\, comparison\, or unrealistic expectations often placed on women in tech\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker bio: \n\n\n\nTamara Kroeker is a coach\, facilitator\, and speaker specializing in self-awareness and relational intelligence in the workplace. After more than a decade as an elementary music teacher\, Tamara shifted her focus to leadership development and professional coaching.
