SUMMARY:HR Interactive | How To Engage Your Workforce Using AI
DESCRIPTION:Register Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWelcome to New Media Manitoba’s HR Interactive! \n\n\n\nJoin us to explore how organizations can engage and retain their employees using AI techniques. \n\n\n\n=== \n\n\n\nAI is rapidly changing the workplace and creating new possibilities for how organizations communicate\, connect with employees and shape the employee experience. But using AI effectively requires more than simply adopting new tools. \n\n\n\nThis interactive session invites HR professionals to explore the relationship between AI and employee engagement—where AI can add meaningful value\, where its limitations lie\, and what organizations need to consider before putting it to work. \n\n\n\nThrough practical examples\, discussion and shared experiences\, participants will consider how AI can support more thoughtful and effective approaches to engaging employees while keeping the human elements of leadership\, culture and connection at the centre. \n\n\n\nRather than focusing on technology for technology’s sake\, the conversation will encourage participants to think critically about where AI can genuinely improve the employee experience and where strong organizational foundations still matter most. This reflects the core distinction in the presentation between what AI can enable and what it cannot solve. \n\n\n\nParticipants will leave with new ideas\, practical considerations and a clearer perspective on how AI might fit into their own organization’s approach to employee engagement.Who should attend: \n\n\n\n\nHR professionals in all career stages\n\n\n\nHR students\n\n\n\nLeadership & Management\n\n\n\nOperations & Office Managers\n\n\n\n\nAgenda for September 23rd: \n\n\n\n6:00 pm: doors open\, networking & refreshments6:30 pm: Indigenous Land Acknowledgement\, welcome\, and introduction6:35 pm: Gwen Halchuck starts her presentation7:20 pm: Q&A7:50 pm: networking & wrap up8:00 pm: event concludes \n\n\n\n\nRegister Today!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout our speaker:  \n\n\n\n\nGwen Halchuk is a Learning and Organizational Development leader with 15+ years of experience in employee engagement\, leadership development\, organizational change and workforce strategy with national and mulitnational companies such at SKIP\, Sobeys\, and Maple Leaf. She has built global L&D and engagement strategies\, coached more than 200 leaders\, and led people initiatives that have delivered measurable improvements in engagement\, adoption and business performance.Gwen is particularly interested in how AI can reshape the employee experience by creating new ways for employees to learn\, communicate\, contribute and connect. She brings a practical people-first perspective to AI\, exploring how organizations can use emerging technology to create more personalized and responsive employee experiences while maintaining the trust\, connection and human judgment that make people practices effective. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n=== \n\n\n\nNew Media Manitoba’s AI Adoption Project is funded by Prairies Economic Development Canada | Développement économique Canada pour les Prairies. \n\n\n\nProudly supported by: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue

SUMMARY:New Media Manitoba's StudioLab xR: Intro to Motion Control
DESCRIPTION:Register Today\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOverview:This 3-day hands-on workshop is an introduction to motion control camera work with the Cinebot Mini for camera crews and directors alike. \n\n\n\nNo robotics or programming background needed. If you work around cameras\, or you direct them\, this workshop is designed for you. \n\n\n\nMotion control lets a camera repeat the exact same move\, shot after shot\, with a precision no human operator can match by hand. From perfectly matched passes for a visual effects plate or complex hi-speeds moves. It’s a techniques that shows up constantly in commercials\, film\, and virtual production and is now a part of StudioLab xR with the Cinebot Mini. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will introduce you to the Cinebot Mini\, a compact robotic camera system\, and Flair\, the software used to program and run it. Led by Marc Roberts Authorized Trainer Hans Chew\, it’s designed to take participants from operation basics to actual planning\, programming\, and shooting with it. \n\n\n\nThe first two days are all about the machine itself — setup\, safe operation\, and hands-on programming time. The third day shifts the focus to the creative side: participants plan and shoot a short faux commercial\, giving directors and camera crews a chance to work together the way they would on a real set. \n\n\n\nWho this is for: \n\n\n\n\nDirectors of photograph\n\n\n\nassistant camera operators\n\n\n\ncamera department crew\n\n\n\nAnyone curious about motion control who wants a genuine\, hands-on introduction rather than just watching a demo.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll walk away knowing how to do:Days 1–2: Are built specifically for directors and content creators\, covering hands-on operation of the system. \n\n\n\n\nOperating the system\n\n\n\nGet oriented on the Cinebot Mini with its moving parts\, range of motion\, weight limits\, and how it’s safely set up on set.\n\n\n\nProgram camera moves in Flair\, including moves with multiple defined points that the system can repeat exactly.\n\n\n\nRecord a move by hand and have the system play it back identically\, over and over.\n\n\n\nCalibrate the system\, follow safe operating procedure\, and troubleshoot common issues.\n\n\n\nGet real\, supervised practice time programming and running the system yourself.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDay 3: Puts you in the driver’s seat with planning and directing a real shoot using motion control. \n\n\n\n\nDirecting with motion control\n\n\n\nLearn how to turn a shot list and a creative vision into a programmed camera move.\n\n\n\nPlan and rehearse shots collaboratively\n\n\n\nDirecting the instructor\, or operating the system yourself.\n\n\n\nHelp produce a short faux commercial using motion-controlled camera work\, start to finish.\n\n\n\nWrap with a debrief on how motion control fits into a real directing workflow.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here

SUMMARY:New Media Manitoba's StudioLab xR: 3D Gaussian Splatting Acquisition
DESCRIPTION:Register Today\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA hands-on workshop: Turn real-world locations into photorealistic 3D scenes \n\n\n\nNo advanced 3D or coding background needed. If you’re curious about scanning and reality capture and comfortable finding your way around a computer\, you’re ready for this. \n\n\n\nTerrestrial scanning has traditionally meant a choice: LiDAR and photogrammetry give you accurate measurements\, but the results often look flat\, gappy\, or artificial once you try to actually look around inside them. 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) changes that equation. It’s a newer capture-and-rendering technique that turns real-world scans into scenes you can walk through in photorealistic detail\, reflections\, foliage\, glass\, fine texture and all \, and it does it in minutes\, not days. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is a hands-on introduction to that pipeline. In this three day workshop you will learn how to capture a location with modern scanning hardware\, how to clean up and process that data\, and how to bring the result into a real-time 3D environment where it can actually be used for visualization\, presentation\, or production. \n\n\n\nJoin the Virtual Production Academy and Epic Games Authorized Instructors who will walk you through the process end to end. You’ll capture and process a real scan yourself\, and see how it’s deployed in a real-time engine including a look at how the same pipeline extends all the way to a live LED wall\, one of several places this technology is landing right now. \n\n\n\nTerrestrial scanning and 3DGS are useful well beyond any one industry this workshop is built for anyone who wants that skill set\, including: \n\n\n\n\nReality capture & survey professionals already working with LiDAR or photogrammetry who want to add high-fidelity 3DGS to their toolkit.\n\n\n\nArchitecture\, engineering & construction (AEC) professionals looking for faster\, more photorealistic ways to document and present sites and buildings.\n\n\n\nReal estate\, tourism & marketing professionals who want immersive\, walk-through-quality captures of properties or destinations.\n\n\n\nHeritage & cultural documentation specialists interested in creating lasting\, richly detailed digital records of historic sites.\n\n\n\nUrban planners & digital twin creators building accurate\, real-world-based 3D models for planning and public engagement.\n\n\n\nDigital artists & Unreal Engine technicians who want to build real-time environments from real-world scans instead of building everything from scratch.\n\n\n\nFilm & advertising professionals curious about digital scouting and how scanned locations can be used in virtual production.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll walk away with knowing how to do: \n\n\n\n\nCapture a real location as a precise\, photorealistic 3D scan using professional-grade scanning hardware.\n\n\n\nClean up and refine that scan so it’s genuinely usable: sharp\, stable\, and free of visual noise.\n\n\n\nBring the scan into a real-time 3D engine (Unreal Engine) and get it running smoothly.\n\n\n\nUnderstand how a finished scan gets calibrated and deployed for real-world use\, using a live LED wall demonstration as a hands-on example of a real-time deployment pipeline.\n\n\n\nRecognize and troubleshoot the common visual issues that show up when a scan gets pushed into real-time playback.\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n\nCuriosity about 3D scanning\, no advanced 3D or coding background required.\n\n\n\nBasic comfort navigating a computer; some familiarity with Unreal Engine’s interface is helpful but not mandatory.\n\n\n\n\nYour instructors: \n\n\n\nThis workshop is led by Epic Games Authorized Instructors with real-world reality capture and virtual production experience: Gastón Alvarez and Carlos Vilchis\, brought in through a partnership with the Virtual Production Academy. \n\n\n\nBetween them\, they bring hands-on expertise in real-time 3D pipelines\, 3D art\, capture and digitization of real-world locations\, and on-set deployment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here
