SUMMARY:The Exceptional Story of Complex Games
DESCRIPTION:The ‘exceptional’ story of Complex Games launching Chaos Gate\, and their future with Frontier Developments\, moderated by James Swirsky.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreating a video game from scratch is no small undertaking. \n\n\n\nLaunching a successful video game from a Winnipeg indie studio is simply ‘exceptional’.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The truth is that over 50% of indie games on Steam have never made more than $4\,000\, and over 2/3 of these games don’t reach $10\,000 in lifetime revenue.*However\, Winnipeg’s own Complex Games Inc. was able to overcome these odds with their own title launch after many years in the business. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a fascinating conversation between Noah-Decter-Jackson and James Swirsky as they walk us through some of Complex Games history\, and share what it took to achieve Chaos Gate’s success\, and what eventually led to its acquisition. \n\n\n\nThis up-close conversation is being held at the beautiful RRC Polytech Auditorium on March 9th at 7:00 pm\, followed by an interactive Q & A where you can ask Noah questions about his unique and rare experience with making an indie game a global success.   \n\n\n\n*https://www.liquidweb.com/insights/video-game-statistics \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNoah Decter – JacksonHead of Studio & Games Director\, Complex Games \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNoah is a Creative Director-Entrepreneur\, over 21 years ago he bootstrapped Manitoba’s first videogame development studio\, Complex Games Inc.\, starting with $0 and at a time without any existing local industry\, community or government support.  After having built a successful work-for-hire business making games for some of the world’s largest publishers\, he pivoted the company towards independent development\, leading to the eventual 2022 launch of the top-selling & rated Warhammer 40\,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. In the same year he and his partners sold the studio to Frontier Developments PLC\, where he continues on in his new role as Studio Head and Game Director. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModerator: James SwirskyDirector/Producer: ‘Indie Game: The Movie‘Co-founder of BlinkWorks Media \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJames Swirsky is a documentary filmmaker primarily focused on telling stories in the world of video games.  James co-founded BlinkWorks Media and has made films for the likes of Valve\, Ubisoft\, Roblox\, Facebook and The Game Awards.
