About the Role

New Media Manitoba is looking for a Manager of Advanced Training and Workforce Development to fulfill its workforce development responsibilities as the sector council for Manitoba’s interactive digital media community.

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading initiatives detailed in NMM’s Workforce Development strategy and operating plan
  • Enabling access to industry relevant training essential for growing the industry
  • Facilitating alignment of training with industry needs
  • Expanding the skilled labour pool to ensure a sufficient supply of workers for jobs in the sector
  • Developing industry intelligence to inform responsive strategies and Investments
  • Aligning labour and employee skills with business needs

Responsibilities

  • Preparing an annual training and workforce development plan with supporting budget
  • Planning and coordinating delivery of sectoral and cross-sectoral training for new and existing workforce based on priority skill needs, including marketing, promotion and communications planning and delivery
  • Planning and coordinating youth engagement and workforce outreach activities; including participation at career fairs, supporting Meet-Up Groups and other IDM community events, administering the Tech Hub program, and preparation and delivery of presentations
  • Oversee development of curriculum/training content and materials
  • Working in collaboration with the Manager of Business Development to deliver business development training to business owners and senior leaders
  • Developing and articulating business expectations to education and training institutions to align programs with business needs
  • Working with academic partners to promote careers within the industry, and employ job matching strategies, including coordinating demand led training projects to help targeted groups obtain jobs in the industry and supporting partners in the delivery of work-integrated learning opportunities
  • Serving as a liaison for NMM by attending industry and academic functions and participating on committees; advocating on behalf of our community, providing feedback, and disseminating information on market and industry trends
  • Building relationships with sector companies and industry trainers and consultants to effectively match training needs with training talent
  • Developing and negotiating partnership and service agreements
  • Developing and/or coordinating training evaluation surveys
  • Identify and manage training software and equipment (hardware, AV, etc) required to develop, manage, and deliver training, and coordinate procurement
  • Identifying opportunities and preparing applications for funding
  • Preparing reports for funding organizations
  • Participating in budget preparation and monitoring spending on training and workforce development
  • Develop and update policies and procedures relating to training services and participants
  • Develop KPI tracking systems and track and monitor achievement of KPI
  • Perform other essential functions as directed 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of combined management, teaching and education administration experience  or human resources experience focused on training and development.
  • Relevant education and/or training or equivalent experience in training delivery and management
  • Successful track record of effective teaching/training, curriculum development, education administration, and executing successful training programs (in-person and virtual)
  • Experience within the IDM and training topics relevant to the sector an asset
  • Experience sourcing experts that enhance client’s training experiences
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with funders, academic partners, trainers, consultants and clients
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Skilled project manager, time manager and organizer
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in business (CRM and Work Management Systems) and communications tools, information systems and technology and audio visual equipment
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for ongoing professional learning
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities and situations simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with a team
  • First aid experience desirable
