Blender to Unity- Stay at Home Sessions

April 2 from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

New Media Manitoba is proud to present this four-part live streaming event on Making a 3D Game Character!

These are challenging times, and we recognize that continuing to learn and be social is tough. With that in mind, we hope you will join us for our very first Stay at Home Session. Each week we will live-stream an industry expert as they break down their craft and technique

Rebecca Harrison, Art Director at Gallium Studios, is starting things off for us with a four-part series on making a 3D game character using Blender and Unity. This series gives you the unique opportunity to learn the basics of character design from a professional video game designer all from the comfort of your own home.

Schedule

  • Thursday, April 2nd, 6 pm – An Introduction to Modelling in Blender
  • Thursday, April 9th, 6 pm – An Introduction to Rigging in Blender
  • Thursday, April 16th, 6 pm – An Introduction to Animating in Blender
  • Thursday, April 23rd, 6 pm – Importing Your Character into Unity

Each week you can fire up the computer and head over to https://www.twitch.tv/flightyfelon to follow along. The stream will start at 6.00 pm and last roughly an hour and a half. Can’t make the show? We’ve got you covered. Archived recordings will be housed at www/twitch.tv/newmediamanitoba so there are no excuses.

Our Stay at Home Sessions are designed to keep you learning and engaged until in-person sessions are possible again. The best news, though, is that they are 100% free. An incredible month of game dev lectures to take your skills to the next level.

Instructor Bio

Rebecca Harrison is the Art Director for the upcoming game Proxi. Rebecca first broke into the 3D art scene in Winnipeg by working on the feature film Next Gen (Netflix). She brings a solid background in 2D art from a decade of freelance and comic work, focusing on strong composition, colour, and mood.

With a lifelong passion for video games, she believes in starting from an emotional understanding of the art she is trying to create, and then carefully crafting the experience to stay true to the original vision. Rebecca will encourage students to use their imaginations and resourcefulness to the fullest, just like in a real game-studio environment.
