Pixel Pals MB – Inaugural Meetup – Dec 1
About this event
Pixel Pals MB is a new meetup group that focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment for marginalized persons to network with IDM industry professionals while learning about Game Development and other related areas of the creative digital arts.
Our events and programming aim to remove the barriers that prevent or discourage marginalized persons (women, gender diverse, queer, and BIPOC persons) from accessing game development opportunities and that hinder their ability to thrive in the game industry.
Winnipeg is home to a diverse and talented group of game developers and we want to give you a chance to play their games! That’s why we have a game giveaway set for our first Pixel Pals event.
Come out and network in a safe space and you could take home a copy of Moonglow_Bay by Albertine Watson of Bunnyhug Games or Doki_Doki_Anomaly by Rebecca Harrison of Flightyfelon Games!
Here are some of the topics we want to explore with you:
- Are you new to the world of game development or digital media? We’re here to support you!
- We want to hear about your dream job, favorite game, genre, mechanic, moment or soundtrack!
- We want to hear what you’re working on. How long have you been interested in these art forms?
- What other groups are you part of? What kinds of experiences and/or programming are you looking for in this group?
Pixel Pals MB is run by a volunteer Executive Committee of local game developers, artists, digital media advocates, and community programming experts who embody the community this meetup group is meant to serve, and NMM is grateful for their time and contributions.
