How to Get Ready for The Job Market (with Emily Funk)

About this event

Searching for a job can be a job in itself. It can be a daunting task especially when you’re just starting out. So how do you put your best foot forward?

Please join us at our next Pixel Pals Meetup when we’ll hear from Emily Funk, a 3D Environmental Asset Artist who works for MARZ VFX and formerly for Tangent Animation. Emily will share from experience, what to do before, during, and after an interview by highlighting the following points:

Getting the Interview

  • Where to look, how to find who to contact, what to do if they aren’t hiring, but you want your name on file.

Preparing for the Interview

  • What to pull together, have on hand, what to personalize per interview application.

During the Interview

  • How to respond to left-field questions, how to be specific with answers to common questions.

After the Interview

  • When to follow up, how to proceed, what happens if you get it or not

***This event will also feature Industry professionals who’ll stick around for the Q&A session, so they can answer all your pressing questions in a networking style.***

About Pixel Pals MB

Pixel Pals MB is a new meetup group that focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment for marginalized persons to network with IDM industry professionals while learning about Game Development and other related areas of the creative digital arts.

Our events and programming aim to remove the barriers that prevent or discourage marginalized persons (women, gender diverse, queer, and BIPOC persons) from accessing game development opportunities and that hinder their ability to thrive in the game industry.

Pixel Pals MB is run by a volunteer Executive Committee of local game developers, artists, digital media advocates, and community programming experts who embody the community this meetup group is meant to serve, and NMM is grateful for their time and contributions.

Attending this event means you agree to the terms and conditions of our safe space policy.
