This year a handful of associations have all joined together to spread some holiday cheer in one grand gathering! The Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), Adobe User Group of Winnipeg (Flash in the 'Peg), Manitoba Interactive Media Association (MIDMA), the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), Film Training Manitoba (FTM), and of course New Media Manitoba (us), are all getting together at Finn McCue's in the Forks on Thursday December 6, 2007.
Let me be perfectly clear when I say that to date, Flash in the Can is THE largest New Media roadshow to roll through Winnipeg EVER. To put things in perspective for you, FITC makes 5-stops: Chicago, Hollywood, Toronto, Amsterdam, and WINNIPEG. I don't know about you, but for these gentlefolk to recognize the awesome new media presence here, I say is a BIG DEAL. Ok, enough speaking in CAPS and let's get down to DETAILS. :)
New Media Manitoba presents the, "MARKETING ACCELERATOR PROGRAM (MAP)" November 6-8, 2007
On Wednesday, October 10, 2007, New Media Manitoba, the University of Manitoba's Department of Computer Science, Microsoft, the International Game Developer's Association, and MindSet present, "Develop Mental" for the XBox 360 in Winnipeg! This event will be held in University Centre's Multi-Purpose Room at the University of Manitoba. Registration is complimentary for students, teachers, members of the IGDA, and members of New Media Manitoba.
On Tuesday, September 18, 2007, Peer Allan of Bipolar Software will deliver a 2-hour technology showcase of one of the Internet's hottest technologies: Ruby on Rails (RoR). This meeting will be held at Psych Health on William and begins at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive at least 20-minutes early to find parking and get registered! There is no charge to attend but it does take time to sign everyone in.
