Employment Diversity Program

The New Media Manitoba Employment Diversity Program offsets the costs incurred by eligible Interactive Digital Media (IDM) companies in Manitoba when hiring individuals from underrepresented groups for skilled roles in the IDM sector.

PLEASE NOTE: The 2019 / 2022 funding cycle for the Business Development & Employment Diversity Programs has come to an end, and we are currently not accepting new applications.

However, we would like to continue to support IDM companies and notify our members when we commence a new funding cycle. NMM offers various other services like trade missions, program navigation, and hiring support. Reach out to our team to learn more and share your thoughts on future programs.

This initiative is designed to help increase diversity in the IDM industry and help companies secure talented new staff. Applications are scored on criteria assessing the applicant company’s understanding of issues of diversity, as well as the applicant company’s preparedness to provide an appropriately safe workplace where underrepresented persons can thrive in IDM. The program runs until March 31, 2022, pending available funds.

The Employment Diversity Program will pay up to a maximum of $7,500* toward an underrepresented individual’s salary when newly hired at a Manitoban IDM company, per individual hired. New Media Manitoba (NMM) reserves the right to cap the number of employees hired through this program per company at its discretion. Please note that applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis, pending availability of program funds.

*Funds totaling less than $7,500 may be paid if the applicant company is already accessing federal salary subsidies/funding or other funding that would contribute to stacking limitations. Federal salary stacking is limited to 90% total, thus NMM may only contribute EDP funds up to the stacking limit.
